Periodontal treatments

Periodontitis is a chronic disease caused by bacteria. Together with you, we will develop a treatment plan for this disease of the tooth-supporting structures in order to prevent premature tooth loss.

A typical sign of this condition is inflamed gums; the gingiva is reddened, and bleeding occurs when brushing. If you are diagnosed with this condition, we will conduct a thorough interview with you regarding your family history and dietary habits to determine the underlying causes. Tongue examination, blood pressure measurement, and blood glucose measurement are necessary as part of a holistic approach and to rule out any underlying medical conditions in order to achieve a long-term solution. For lifelong, individually tailored prophylaxis, bacterial swabs must be taken to analyze specific triggering bacteria. Supportive antibiotic therapy may be indicated. We collaborate with your primary care physician to rule out any vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

Periodontitis is not only dangerous for your gums, but for the health of your entire body. The bacteria that cause periodontitis and their toxins spread throughout the body via the inflamed pockets and enter the bloodstream. It is medically proven that periodontitis increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes, osteoporosis, joint diseases, high blood pressure, premature births, and even cancer.
